    At the palace Mycroft introduces the case to Sherlock and shows him pictures of Irane Adler. "Mycroft: There are many names for what she does. She prefers dominatrix.
    (CUT) Sherlock repeats the word, "Dominatrix…"
   "Don’t be alarmed. It has to do with sex."
    "Sex doesn’t alarm me."
   "How would you know?"
The cut portion is included as about the 4th scene in this video:

As Sherlock is first standing in front of Irene's safe (immediately after the CIA agents encounter John). The following lines of dialogue are cut which shows that he had an additional hint that it was her measurements (in addition to her comment that she had already told him):
"Hmm. Should always use gloves with these things, you know. Heaviest oil deposit’s always on the first key used – that’s quite clearly the three – but after that the sequence is almost impossible to read."

    After Sherlock and Mycroft wish each other Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year, (CUT) Mycroft stays in the hallway and calls John who is at 221B. "He’s on his way. Have you found anything?"
    "No. Did he take the cigerrette?"
    "Shit." John turns around to Mrs. Hudson, "He’s coming. Ten minutes."
    "There’s nothing in the bedroom."
    John turns back to the phone. "No, it looks like he’s clean. We’ve tried all the usual places. Are you sure tonight’s the danger night?"
    "No. But I never am. You have to stay with him John."
    "Uh, I’ve got plans."
    "Nooo." Mycroft hangs up.
    "Mycroft… Mm." John hangs up and turns to his girlfriend, Jeanette, who is sitting on the sofa. He sits down next to her "I’m really sorry."
    "You know, my friends are so wrong about you."
    "You’re a great boyfriend."
    "Ok, that’s good. I always thought I was great."
    "Sherlock Holmes is a very lucky man."
    "Jeanette, please."
    "No I mean it. It’s heart warming. You’ll do anything for him.You can’t even tell your girlfriends apart."
    "Look, I’ll do anything for you. Just tell me what it is I’m not doing!"
    "Don’t make me compete with Sherlock Holmes!"
    "I’ll walk your dog for you. I said it now, I'll walk your…"
    "I don’t have a dog!"
    Realizing he got his girlfriends mixed up, John says, "Because that was the last one… okay."
   "Jesus!" She walks out.
    "I’ll call you."
    "Okay ."
    Mrs. Hudson says, "That wasn’t very good, was it?"

    Sherlock returns to 221B and goes about his life, playing the violin a lot and mostlyt being uncommunicative, On New Year's Eve, John tells him he's going out and Sherlock ignores him.
(CUT) John walks to the kitchen where Mrs. Hudson is claening up and picks up his keys off the table, leans over and softly asks her, "Listen, has he had any kind of girlfriend, boyfriend, a realtionship? Ever?"
    "I don’t know."
    "How could we not know?"
    "He’s Sherlock. How will we ever know what goes on in that funny old head?"
    "Alright, see ya."
